Every Child Learns
Differently

We provide thoughtful, practical support for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, ADD, and other learning differences — because every child deserves to thrive.

Please note: As a supplemental school, The Empowered Classroom makes reasonable efforts to follow IEPs and support individual learning needs within the limits of our class size, staffing, and program structure. While we strive to meet each student's needs as effectively as possible, we cannot guarantee fulfillment of every accommodation or service outlined in an IEP. Home educators remain ultimately responsible for their student's overall education.

Dyslexia Support

We use structured literacy and Orton-Gillingham-inspired approaches to support students with dyslexia. Our educators understand that dyslexia is not a reflection of intelligence — it is simply a different way of processing language.

Multi-sensory reading instruction
Phonemic awareness and phonics
Decodable text and fluency building
Oral reading accommodations
Extended time for reading tasks
Audiobook and text-to-speech support

Dysgraphia Accommodations

Writing can be a significant challenge for students with dysgraphia. We provide practical accommodations that allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity without being limited by the physical act of writing.

Keyboarding as an alternative to handwriting
Oral responses accepted for written assignments
Graphic organizers and structured outlines
Reduced writing quantity with maintained rigor
Handwriting therapy referral support
Assistive technology guidance

ADHD Strategies

Students with ADHD thrive with structure, movement, and variety. Our classroom environment and instructional strategies are designed to work with the ADHD brain, not against it.

Frequent movement breaks
Chunked instruction and tasks
Visual schedules and timers
Preferential seating options
Fidget tools and sensory supports
Positive behavior reinforcement

ADD Support

For students with ADD who may struggle with attention without the hyperactivity component, we provide a calm, structured environment with strategies that help them stay focused and engaged.

Quiet work spaces available
Task segmentation and checklists
Frequent check-ins and redirection
Minimized distractions in the environment
Self-monitoring tools and strategies
Parent communication and collaboration

IEP Collaboration

We make reasonable efforts to review and implement IEP-related accommodations within our program structure, staffing, and classroom capacity. We partner with families to understand each student's plan and apply appropriate supports.

IEP review at enrollment
Reasonable accommodation implementation
Regular communication with home educators
Progress updates and observations
Referral support for additional services
Collaboration with outside specialists

Seeing the Whole Child

We believe that a learning difference is not a deficit — it is a different way of experiencing and processing the world. Many of history's greatest thinkers, inventors, and leaders had dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences. Our goal is to help every student discover their strengths, develop their skills, and grow in confidence.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

— Ephesians 2:10
