Our Biblical
Grade Names

At The Empowered Classroom, every grade level carries a biblical name that reflects the spiritual and academic journey of that season of life. These names build identity, community, and a sense of sacred purpose in every student.

Early Childhood

Ages 3–6 years old

Pre-K

Seeds

Ages 3–4

Like seeds planted in rich soil, our youngest learners are just beginning their journey. We nurture wonder, curiosity, and the love of learning in a warm, safe, faith-filled environment.

"A time to plant..."

— Ecclesiastes 3:2

Kindergarten

Sprouts

Ages 5–6

Sprouts are emerging from the ground, reaching toward the light. Kindergartners are discovering letters, numbers, and the joy of friendship as they grow in faith and knowledge.

"He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit."

— Proverbs 27:18

Elementary

Ages 6–11 years old

1st Grade

Roots

Ages 6–7

First graders are putting down deep roots — in reading, in math, and in faith. Like a tree planted by living water, they grow strong and steady.

"Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water."

— Jeremiah 17:7–8

2nd Grade

Branches

Ages 7–8

Second graders are branching out — expanding their skills, friendships, and understanding of God's world. Connected to the Vine, they bear good fruit.

"I am the vine; you are the branches."

— John 15:5

3rd Grade

Harvest

Ages 8–9

Third graders are reaping the rewards of their early hard work. Reading fluency, mathematical thinking, and character are all bearing fruit in this rich harvest season.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

— Galatians 6:9

4th Grade

Wisdom

Ages 9–10

Fourth graders are growing in wisdom — asking deeper questions, thinking critically, and seeking understanding. They learn that true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault."

— James 1:5

5th Grade

Courage

Ages 10–11

Fifth graders are stepping into new challenges with courage. Like Joshua entering the Promised Land, they face bigger academic and personal challenges with faith and boldness.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

— Joshua 1:9

Middle School

Ages 11–14 years old

6th Grade

Disciples

Ages 11–12

Sixth graders begin their middle school journey as disciples — learners who follow closely, ask questions, and begin to understand their calling. They are being shaped for purpose.

"Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people."

— Matthew 4:19

7th Grade

Stewards

Ages 12–13

Seventh graders are learning stewardship — of their gifts, their time, their relationships, and their faith. They begin to see themselves as responsible caretakers of what God has entrusted to them.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace."

— 1 Peter 4:10

8th Grade

Builders

Ages 13–14

Eighth graders are builders — constructing a strong academic foundation, developing their identity in Christ, and preparing for the high school years ahead. They build with purpose and intention.

"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain."

— Psalm 127:1

High School

Ages 14–18 years old

9th Grade

Seekers

Ages 14–15

Freshmen are seekers — pursuing truth in every subject, exploring their passions, and seeking God's direction for their future. High school begins with a posture of humble inquiry.

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

— Jeremiah 29:13

10th Grade

Covenant

Ages 15–16

Sophomores are in the Covenant year — deepening their commitment to academic excellence, to their community, and to their faith. They understand that faithfulness in small things leads to greatness.

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations."

— Deuteronomy 7:9

11th Grade

Prophets

Ages 16–17

Juniors are Prophets — beginning to speak into their own future with clarity and vision. They are discerning their calling, preparing for college or vocation, and learning to lead.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

— Jeremiah 29:11

12th Grade

Revelation

Ages 17–18

Seniors are in the Revelation year — the culmination of their journey at The Empowered Classroom. They have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. They go forth equipped, empowered, and sent.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

— 2 Timothy 4:7

Why Biblical Names Matter

At The Empowered Classroom, we believe that names carry meaning. When a student says "I am a Disciple" or "I am in the Builders class," they are not just identifying their grade — they are speaking a truth about who they are and who they are becoming.

Our biblical grade naming framework was designed to give students a sense of sacred identity and community. From the youngest Seeds to the graduating Revelation class, every student belongs to a named community with a shared scripture, a shared purpose, and a shared journey.

These names also create natural mentorship opportunities. Older students in the Covenant, Prophets, and Revelation classes look back and see where they came from. Younger students look up and see where they are going. Together, they form a living, growing community rooted in faith.
